Wow! We now have over 40 people planning to attend the Quimby's "Erotic Harry Potter Night." This is really awesome, and I can't wait to meet everyone. Looks like most will be traveling from the hotel (Chicago Hilton) to the bookstore, so I've put together some travel info.

It appears that the best way to do it will be by train, and I will suggest that we go en masse. The shindig is set to start at 7pm. I'm going to suggest we meet in the lobby of the hotel at 5:45, head out at 6pm, and potentially arrive at the store 20 minutes early, which will give everyone time to browse around a little, and chat with each other.

The H/D meetup is stuffing its goody bags at 9pm (place TBA), so some of us will be heading to help out with that, after.

The train will cost $2 each direction. A farecard or visitor pass can be bought in advance to save time. There is a one-day visitor pass that is $5.00. I bought mine in advance since I plan to ride the CTA train from the airport to the hotel. So I will save $1 total that way. To purchase passes online: http://www3.yourcta.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTA&category_name=&product_id=vp It does take some time for them to mail them to you via the post office ("10 working days" they claim), so plan ahead. Passes can also be bought various places, but I did not find a place to buy one at the airport. (You can pay the usual $2 fare at the airport.)

Anyone with mobility issues or those who fear big city public transit may want to take cabs. The estimated cab fare is $15 each way, tip included, but that estimate could be off. The bookstore is 4.5 miles from the hotel.

Walk to the Harrison station (about 4 blocks)
Take the Red line north one stop to Jackson
change to the Blue Line (walk free from one line to the other)
Take Blue Line to Damen
Right on North Ave

Fare is $2 each direction. You buy a transit card from a machine at the station.
For $5 a one-day unlimited ride visitor pass can be bought, but only at certain locations.

ZINE

July 16, 2008: I've started laying out the zine, but don't have enough of the material in yet to know what the price is going to be. As soon as I have it estimated, I will let everyone know what the price will be. Readers, if you have anything more to send me, now is the time!

Right now I am guessing it might be around $10 but that is only a guess. It'll be the lowest possible price to meet costs!

Further to that, it would be truly awesome to have some black and white fanart in it, too. There will probably be room for some art inside, so if anyone wants something of theirs included, please let me know. I'll need a clean scan, preferably as JPG or TIF, 300 dpi, black and white/grayscale, sent to me by July 24th.
